The interdependence between communication networks, e.g., an optical backbone network, and power grids is a critical issue to take into account when designing operating both systems. In fact, failures in one network may cause further the other vice versa. This because nodes (i.e., generators, loads or interchange nodes) are controlled managed by telecommunication equipment, which, turn, rely on electricity grid for their supply.
